What is Maybe Someday about?
At twenty-two years old, Sydney is enjoying a great life: She’s in college, working a steady job, in love with her wonderful boyfriend, Hunter, and rooming with her best friend, Tori. But everything changes when she discovers that Hunter is cheating on her—and she’s forced to decide what her next move should be.

Soon, Sydney finds herself captivated by her mysterious and attractive neighbor, Ridge. She can't take her eyes off him or stop listening to the passionate way he plays his guitar every evening out on his balcony. And there’s something about Sydney that Ridge can’t ignore, either. They soon find themselves needing each other in more ways than one.

A passionate tale of friendship, betrayal, and romance, Maybe Someday will immerse readers in Sydney’s tumultuous world from the very first page.

Thoughts:

This was my first ever Colleen Hoover book. All I have to say is: “WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN ALL MY LIFE?” Actually, I have tons more to say than that.

Going into Maybe Someday, I wasn’t sure what to expect.  This was my first New Adult book, and I pretty much went into it blind.  I am glad that I didn’t know too much about this one, because I did really like being able to just read and experience it without knowing too much of what it was about.

I thought the premise of Maybe Someday was great.  Colleen Hoover did a good job of setting it up for us, and giving us some backstory.  I love love loved the music aspect of this book.  I think Ridge writing songs and being in a band with his friends and brother was so cool and he is an amazing guitar player.  The musical aspect of this story was great.  I loved the scenes where Ridge and Sydney wrote music together and you could really see their feelings and emotions on that paper.  You could really see them pouring their hearts out through these songs.  It was great being able to actually read the lyrics and hear the songs.  There is actually a Maybe Someday album with all of the songs from the book.  That is such an amazing idea, and it was amazing that Colleen Hoover was able to do that.

At the beginning of this book, Sydney is in a pretty horrible situation.  I really liked how the relationship between her and Ridge began.  He just started out as someone she watched play guitar from her balcony.  But, he gets put in a very difficult situation and he finds himself involved in Sydney life.

Sydney finds out that her boyfriend, Hunter, has been cheating on her with her best friend and roommate Tori.  I think this was a very interesting situation.  In no way do I sympathize with Hunter and Tori, but I like how Colleen Hoover takes this horrible situation and makes you really think about it.  There were parallels between Hunter and Tori and Ridge and Sydney.  Hunter, the ex-boyfriend, was horrible to Sydney and absolutely an ass.  However, you being to understand the history that Hunter and Tori have, and how hard it was for them even though they both loved Sydney.  In the end, Hunter is still a jerk and Tori was such a crappy friend.  But I love how

Maybe Someday took something horrible like cheating on a significant other and made you really look at it deeper and see that maybe it isn’t all black and white.
I really feel in love with the characters in Maybe Someday.  Sydney is a nice girl who really went through a horrible situation.  Ridge is a sweet guy who never wants to hurt anyone.  However, the things that they both go through in this book really puts them both to the test.  Again, like I said above, I loved the way the relationship developed between Ridge and Sydney.  A lot of their communication is entirely comprised of text messages.  I really appreciated how Colleen Hoover made me connect with Ridge and feel like I knew him, even though you never really hear him speak.  I also liked how Sydney and Warren grew closer together and he was willing to help her out (especially towards the end)

Final Thoughts:
This is one of those books that I'm having a hard time capturing my exact feelings for.  It's complex and beautiful and heartbreaking.  I loved every minute of it, even though it was painful at times.
This book made me feel so many emotions that honestly, I wasn’t expecting.  For me, a successful book is when it connects me enough to the characters and the story that it makes me feel these deep emotions and really makes me think about things.  So, I would say that Maybe Someday is definitely a success.  Reading this book was most definitely an experience and I can’t wait to read my next Colleen Hoover book!

  1. I haven't read this, and am not familiar with this author at all. I'll look her up, though - I like New Adult as a genre, and am always looking for new recommendations there. Plus, if you think she handles cheating in an interesting way? That's different. I might be tempted to look into that! :)
